Ga Samai, Exhibition, Civic Gallery, Kensington, UK
In June I was selected to exhibit the Civic Gallery at Kensington Town Hall to exhibit a piece in to mark the borough’s celebration of the late HM Queen’s 70th Platinum Jubilee.
The Jubilee Collection was opened by the Mayor of Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
As 1st generation born within the UK, and heavily influenced by Ghana’s history, I wanted to merge my two worlds, of where I am from and show appreciation of my heritage as it also has a vast history.
The piece encapsulates the unity of the Ga Samai (symbols). Each symbol has its own individual meaning (check previous blog post for the meanings), communicating proverbs of African life lessons. The colour palate represents the British national colours.
Signed, limited edition prints are still available to purchase.
